A new competition is emerging - with open source!
How do you bring a new competition to universities? And how can teachers be supported in the best possible way in carrying it out with their students? The DI:OCDCPro Kick-Off Workshop 2025 addressed these questions, among others.
In December 2024, the DI:OCDCpro research project reached some important milestones. The key results have now been presented and discussed at the 2025 kick-off workshop. In addition to the competition concept for the open-source chip design competition, an accompanying teaching concept for universities to integrate the competition into teaching and the specifications for the open-source tool chain, which participants can use to design their own chips in the future, were also presented.
Interested parties can view the results to date on the project's GitHub page. In future, all project results will also be published there under a free license.
In addition to Hochschule München, the German Research Center for Artificial Intelligence (DFKI), Hochschule RheinMain, Ruhr-Universität Bochum and the Leibniz Institute for Innovative Microelectronics IHP, the project sponsor, VDI/VDE Innovation + Technik GmbH, also took part in the workshop.
