OCDCpro at the 18th Embedded Talk at the FAU in Erlangen

The OCDCpro project team was on site at the 18th Embedded Talk in Erlangen on March 21, 2025 and was able to gain exciting insights into the world of open source hardware. The event provided a platform for exchange between science and industry and addressed the current challenges and opportunities in the field of open source hardware and chip design.

Of particular interest were the presentations by Prof. Dr. Stefan Wallentowitz, who emphasized the importance of open source chip design as a central component for Europe's chip ambitions, and by Prof. Dr.-Ing. Norbert Wehn, who offered insights into open design flows and their challenges. Dr. Christian Höppler from Bosch also shed light on the industry's perspective on open source and the associated opportunities and pitfalls.

In addition to the presentations, the OCDCpro team presented its own poster in the poster session and used the opportunity for an intensive exchange with experts from science and industry. In the discussions, it became clear how relevant open source is for the future in both the hardware and software sectors and what opportunities are available to students in this environment.
